US Treasury yields move higher after jobs data
The US dollar was steady in trading following Friday's non-farm payrolls report, which showed a surge in employment alongside an increase in unemployment. The report surpassed expectations, revealing that public and private sector payrolls increased by 339,000 in May, from last month's rise of 253,000. The dollar index, which measures the US currency against six others, was last up 0.203% at 103.730. However, before the US Labor Department released the data, the greenback was heading for its largest weekly fall since mid-January.

Gold Rate Today: Gold prices in India unmoved. Check price of yellow metal in Delhi, Ahmedabad, and other Indian cities
Gold futures were trading with minor gains on Friday due to a pullback in the dollar index. The gains came as Philadelphia Federal Reserve President Patrick Harker suggested that the central bank should not take another rate hike despite the slow rate of inflation control. Gold futures on the MCX have advanced by 0.02% in June. Meanwhile, Silver futures have gained nearly 0.97% in value terms in June. As for domestic prices, physical gold in Delhi and Ahmedabad is around INR61,000 ($814) per 10g, with silver priced at INR72,500 per kg.

Dollar holds steady after larger-than-expected rise in May payrolls
The US dollar was relatively unchanged in choppy trading after the release of May's non-farm payrolls report on Friday. Despite employment surging, so did unemployment. On a more positive note, payrolls in the public and private sector increased by 339,000 in May, smashing predictions. Before the US Labor Department released the data, the dollar was headed for its largest weekly fall since mid-January, following the view that the Federal Reserve will forgo an interest rate hike this month, which would reduce the greenback's appeal to non-US buyers.

The Nifty 50 closed 0.3% higher at 18,534.10 points on Friday, failing to surpass immediate resistance at 18,580 points. Short-term view in equities, equity mutual funds could be a recipe for disaster
Investors are advised to have a longer-term view for equity investments for optimum gains, as equity can be volatile and lead to significant drawdown in the short term. Experts recommend passive modes of investment, such as SIPs and ETFs, for retail investors seeking liquidity while conducting a more cautious approach to P2P lending. For those with a balanced profile, exposure to equities can be gained via conservative hybrid funds. Constructive research, not timing the markets, is also advised. Meanwhile, a blend of growth and dividend yield assets is recommended given today’s financial market uncertainty.

Indian rupee sees best week in five; traders await US jobs data
The Indian rupee ended the week at 82.3050 against the US dollar, the highest since May 17, as investors increasingly bet on a rate pause by the US Federal Reserve weakening the dollar. Recent foreign inflows and upbeat growth numbers from India have supported the currency. Easing domestic inflation, stronger-than-expected economic growth and improved investor confidence in the country have also lifted sentiment. Analysts are now eyeing the US jobs report and inflation data due next week, which could provide direction for the dollar index. The dollar's high deposit rates are seen slowing its sell-off.
